Nihilism has often facilitated sociocultural radicalization. Across different times, places, and societies, there is a recurring correlation between nihilist ideologies, political extremism, and antisemitism. This toxic alliance was starkly evident in the U.S. following the October 7 massacre in Israel. An examination of the historical lineage of this phenomenon uncovers a startling paradigm that stretches over a century-and-a-half, connecting the nihilist beginnings of late imperial Russia with the contemporary United States.
